Scaling Dundee’s first active brewery in over fifty years.

71 Brewing is a modern, flavour-forward brewery located in the heart of Dundee. 71 approached us to help modernise their accounting setup and unearth valuable financial data to grow the business.

Tapping into new technology.

We began by migrating the brewery’s accounting platform from Sage to Xero, transforming their accounting setup from a manual, time-consuming process with limited information to a tech-led approach, creating access to untapped financial data.

Our team worked with the owners to introduce a new brewery management system, whilst implementing reporting tools to bring the data to life, arming the owners with more meaningful financial information about how the business was operating.

Funding for growth.

Initially, the focus was on making sure the business had the right funding for growth. This has included a mix of equity, bank debt, asset and invoice finance.

We’ve worked with the board to create dynamic budgets and forecasts that could be used both internally to monitor and track performance, and externally for investors and lenders.

During the pandemic, we did a lot of scenario planning work, which helped the owners make the right decisions to navigate their way through. We’ve also helped secure two funding rounds so far.

Becoming part of the team.

Acting as a key sounding board for the 71 Brewing senior management team, we support the day-to-day financial management of the business. This involves tracking cash flow, helping set pricing strategies for different customer segments (including supermarket and export contracts), and developing and enhancing the management information reporting.

We act as an extension of the 71 Brewing team, hosting quarterly board meetings at our HQ and supporting them with the knowledge and tools they need to grow to new heights.
